Name

Unwanted Medication Disposal Program

Location

Allen County, Indiana

Brief Description

The Allen County TRIAD sponsors the "Unwanted Medication Disposal" program, with support from Walgreens Drug Stores. Two days a year, residents are able to properly dispose of their unwanted medications by dropping them off at one of the five Walgreen locations. The drop-off dates for 2008 are April 25th, and September 26th, from 9am until 1pm. ONLY PILLS ARE ACCEPTED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM (liquid medications can be dried by adding sawdust, kitty litter, or flour, and then thrown away).

The Allen County TRIAD also sponsors a year-round medication collection program, with support from local police and sheriff's departments. Again, ONLY PILLS ARE ACCEPTED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. Collection boxes are available at select following police and sheriff posts in Allen County.
